Looks like the guy was trying to make a musical whilst the studio kept insisting that this was a porno. Somebody did agree that it fails on both accounts. The sex scenes feel like they were put in there cause the studio was paying the guy to make a porno. It seems like time and effort was put into it, in a genre that can that doesn't really require it. It shows that the director cared. It is possible that porno used to be pretty elaborate in the ‘70s or that the singing and dancing was aimed for a special demographic that got turned on by it. Still, gets points for trying to be innovative, not sexually really but in other ways.

Somebody has said that this film is a failure as both a porno and a musical. It has too much singing for a porno. It feels as if the director was trying to make a musical whilst the producers were pushing for porno which might have created some funny meeting. It might seem as if this would be interesting or weird but it is just middling. However, it is a little bit sweet and innocent in a way.

In this case, the non explicit version is so elliptic that all is left is a sing version of Alice In Wonderland, amusing but looking like a low budget adult remake of the mainstream versions; the xxx version makes more sense. Bring to us by the immortal makers of Flesh Gordon, Alice In Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy is exactly what it says, with a full scale soundtrack (symphonic music, big band jazz and songs) and sex. Alice is a self-repressed librarian who will discover sex beyond the mirror and live happy ever after with her faithful suitor, who until then was a bit frustrated. Like Flesh Gordon, it sometimes looks cheap and amateurish but it is funny and enthusiastic, and as some other 70s films, reminds us that at some time there were explicit films with a plot, acting and such...

The dialogue necessarily swirls around topics of love, lust, betrayal, openness, and loyalty. *There is frequent female nudity, as well as a bit of male nudity throughout the film. Much of the nudity is casual or social but there are also several sex acts. Explicit penetration is never shown, no male genitalia are shown and female genitalia is mostly obscured by pubic hair, shadows and careful camera work. *In the opening scene, we see several artistic nude photographs. Later in that scene, a woman wearing a robe props her feet up on a desk, allowing the robe to slide away, revealing her pubic area. While titillating, the scene is shot in such a way that we see it as the action of a woman who is home alone and knows there is no point to flipping the robe back over her hip and thighs. * Another example of this is a scene of a group of women gathered around a backyard swimming pool. All are wearing bikinis but about half of the women have left their tops off.
