The Blu-ray release seems to have another case of censorship for whatever reason. If you pay attention, Melanie's character bed scene in the DVD (or even VHS) release you can clearly see her nipples but in the BR release the shot is cut so you can only see her chest.

In Lisa The Drama Queen, Lisa Simpson becomes friends with an intelligent girl named Juliet Hobbes (Emily Blunt does the voice of this guest character) and they both create a fantasy world and Marge decides that Lisa is not to see Juliet anymore, when Marge believes that their friendship has gone too far. Since it is loosely based on Heavenly Creatures, it is a parody of the film. A special version of the end credits theme song on this episode was performed by Fall Out Boy, although they do not guest star in the actual episode.

Another interesting thing to say about Heavenly Creatures, there’s an episode of The Simpsons called Lisa The Drama Queen and it is loosely based on this film.

It’s pretty strange how Peter Jackson made this film after he directed much gorier films (especially Braindead, which is often considered to be the one of the most... well mostly likely/ pretty much... the goriest film ever made, which is pretty awesome because it’s a splatstick/ zombie comedy horror film). I should also mention his directorial debut film Bad Taste (which is a classic film, a splatstick sci-fi comedy horror flick) and his muppet parody Meet The Feebles (a musical puppet comedy movie). The rest is history...
