I was very close on adding a few more trivia on that last comment but I accidentally tapped post... so here’s more: * The news footage about Buttercup the clown being shot is a parody of the Abraham Zapruder film, which captured John F. Kennedy's assassination. * Pauly Shore played a water purification specialist in the film, In the Army Now. Bio-Dome was filmed at the Donald c Tillman water reclamation plant in Van Nuys, CA. * One of the songs used in this film, "Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me (or simply Da Da Da) was also used in the film Thick As Thieves which features Stephen Baldwin's brother Alec Baldwin. *
More trivia: * Henry Gibson starred in The Blues Brothers in which the final scenes of the film had SWAT team members yelling "HUT HUT HUT" as they were moving into position. The same can be seen and heard with SWAT officers near the end of this movie, almost as if it's an indirect reference to the earlier movie. *
It’s trivia time: * Alec Baldwin told his brother Stephen Baldwin (who starred in this film) that doing this movie could be the single most career-ending decision he could possibly make. * Kylie Minogue called this film her "worst career move". She said that it is the only thing she has done in her professional life that her father ridicules her for. * A rumor later circulated that the film was originally written as a third entry in the Bill and Ted series, and re-worked after the two main stars, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, declined to appear. * During the "restoration of the dome" sequence near the end of the film in which Safety Dance is playing, a dwarf dressed in medieval attire is following the group. This is a direct reference to the original music video for Safety Dance by Men Without Hats, which features a dwarf in those same clothes. * The Biodome compound is the same set as Dante Pharmaceuticals from the 1988 Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo film Dead Heat.
