More trivia: * The motel clerk (Andy Dick) reads an issue of Celebrity Skin magazine with Drew Barrymore on the cover. At the time of the film’s release, Drew Barrymore was engaged to Tom Green, who plays Barry Manilow in Road Trip. * Crispin Glover was originally cast as Jacob Schultz, the teacher's assistant with a crush on Beth (Amy Smart) but Anthony Rapp was casted as that character instead (probably due to Crispin Glover being busy with working on Charlie’s Angels, which came out in the same year as Road Trip, in the year 2000). * Road Trip shares a similar plot with Overnight Delivery. In both films, a young man in a long distance relationship gets anxious after not hearing from his girlfriend in a while. He sends her a package with proof of his own infidelity and ends up chasing the package across the country to retrieve it before she opens it. * When E.L. asks for help from the nurse (Marla Sucharetza) working at the sperm bank she says, "The best results seem to be obtained through fantasisation accompanied by masturbation followed by ejaculation." This line was taken from a similar scene in The Right Stuff, where Gordon Cooper (Dennis Quaid) asks for help from Nurse Murch (Jane Dornacker). * When E.L. gets a prostate check up at the sperm bank by the nurse, the gloves that she wears are "Evolution One" latex gloves as indicated by the box when he enters the check up room. The gloves are made by the company Microflex.
Here comes some trivia for this film: * Although there is no actual Ithaca University, the writers Todd Phillips (who also directed the film) and Scot Armstrong both are alumni of Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY and the movie is partly based on their time there. * (Director Cameo) Todd Phillips also had a cameo appearance in the film as the toe-licking pervert on the bus. * The university seen in a flyover in the opening scene is actually Harvard University. The flyover is the same footage used in the Old School (also written, produced and directed by Todd Phillips). * Though the film takes place at schools in Ithaca, Boston and Austin, almost all of the college scenes were filmed at Georgia Tech, Emory University and the University of Georgia, all near Atlanta. * Originally, Moby's rendition of the James Bond theme song was playing in the background when E.L. Faldt (Seann William Scott) drove the car over the bridge. However, Todd Phillips later switched it to a generic song because the budget didn't allow him to use the Moby song.
