A rape scene where a woman forces a man takes off his clothes (his bare buttocks are shown); isn't quite graphic although, even that it is strongly implied. Afterwards we see him running and his penis can be seen for a few seconds (blink and you'll miss it). Full-frontal female nudity is seen in an non-sexual context. A man and a woman have sex. We see the woman's bare breasts briefly as she sits up. Preparing for oral sex, we see a man's penis briefly. A rape scene where a man rapes a woman. The man tells her to spread her legs wide open and he looks at her vagina. The man feels the woman's body and then gets on top of her and rapes her. It is shocking and extremely disturbing. No nudity except the woman's pubic area can be seen for a few seconds. A man watches a woman get undressed from a closet, we see her from behind and fairly far away from the screen so there isn't really any nudity. A woman removes her robe to show one of her breasts to a man, the breast can be seen but it is out of focus. A few scenes of kissing. A room has an erotic painting of a woman on the wall. A man forcibly kisses another man. The whole film explores themes of sexual violence and sadomasochism. Lots of sexual references.

Coming from the back of the VHS tape - This film is possibly the most influential American film of the ‘80s. David Lynch’s bizarre erotic mystery spawned a whole raft of imitations with its portrayal of the dark underside of American Small-town life. Critics and audiences responded to David’s original and startling images of sex and violence, and made the film a box-office smash. Blue Velvet is renowned for creating, in creating Dennis Hopper’s character Frank, one of the glaytest screen antagonists of all time.
