Georgina Spelvin was perhaps the best actress ever to appear in a hardcore XXX movie. Such a statement perhaps doesn't sound like much in the way of praise to anyone who has not yet exulted in her performance as Justine Jones, a suicidal spinster in Gerard Damiano's masterpiece The Devil in Miss Jones (1972). Georgina deserved an Academy Award nomination for her tortured, frantic portrayal of a voluptuary doing everything humanly possible to overcome being damned to an eternity of sexual frustration. The exalted Ms. Spelvin went on to a long XXX career, bumped over to Police Academy (1984) cameos and the like, and even dipped back into the porn bath with Still Insatiable (1999). Nothing has ever dimmed the eternal flame ignited by The Devil in Miss Jones.
