When Sidney Lumet is behind the camera, as he is in the thriller Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007), you expect class. What’s unusual about this flick is that he also delivers the ass. The plot tells of two brothers, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke, who rip off their parents’ jewelry store. It’s a dark film where nothing works out quite right.
