Her birth name is Danièle Ciarlet, but lovers of foreign cinema know the Algerian-born brunette as Zouzou. She is a hugely influential Parisian star from the swinging '60s, though she remains obscure except to the most fanatical movie lover. As a nightclubber, Zouzou made famous bedmates of Brain Jones of The Rolling Stones and also hung on the arm (if not other appendages) of John Lennon and George Harrison. She also counted among her friends Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, Marianne Faithful, and Jack Nicholson. She even cut a few records, but it's her work on the big screen that makes her fans big. She started in the underground and experimental French film world but quickly moved up to more mainstream fare, such as her nude debut and sole skin onscreen in L' Amour l'après-midi (1972). Her career was cut short by drug addiction, but she got clean and came clean with a tell-all autobiography released in 2003. Yes, Zouzou is a loo-loo.
