She'd been a burlesque girl since the age of fifteen, so Tura Satana was a natural to play strippers in films such as Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed? (1963) and Our Man Flint (1965). But this stunning, exotic beauty--who'd been voted Miss Japan Beautiful back in her homeland--was offended by the artless go-go scene of the '60s. Fortunately, the same spy craze that spawned Flint meant a lot of work for a sexy dominatrix type who knew marital arts. Roles on TV shows like The Man From U.N.C.L.E. soon led to Satana's defining role as the murderous Varla in director Russ Meyer's Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1966). She's been a fetish icon ever since, with many of her fans perfectly happy to adore her in tight leather catsuits. But she also made two films for TV, including a sexy turn in The Doll Squad (1973), in which Tura actually allowed a stunning look at her pastie-clad tits. She's equally stunning in The Astro-Zombies (1967)--and, after thirty-five years of retirement, a bigger, sexier Tura even came back to reprise her role in Mark of the Astro-Zombies (2002).
