She never toyed with our mainstream main stems in the style of Marilyn Chambers and Linda Lovelace, but Seka--born into this world as Dorothea Patton--still helped adult movies get into suburban homes. This classy platinum blonde was the face and bod that moved millions of VHS tapes at the start of the home-video revolution. Instead of being mentioned in Tonight Show monologues, Seka was more likely to turn up on panels with Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey, and Larry King. The former Virginia hillbilly even scored a Saturday Night Live cameo in 1986. Seka was savvy enough to get paid what she was worth while thrashing out an incredible amount of passionate product through the late-‘70s and ’80s--including over two dozen appearances in the Swedish Erotica series. She did it all while still based in her beloved Chicago too. On White Satin (1980) was an early classic, but Seka remained porn’s preeminent brand name even as she slowly closed her legs toward the end of the decade. Her mid-‘90s stint on Chicago talk radio still landed her a Playboy video in Girls of Radio: Talk, Rock and Shock (1995). More recently, the mainstream documentary Desperately Seeking Seka (2002) chronicled her tale while showcasing her tail.
