Nina Hartley came up with her stage name while stripping in San Francisco. The soon-to-be porno hall-of-famer liked Nina because the Japanese tourists who were shoving dollars in her G-string had no problems pronouncing it. Hartley was in homage to Mariette Hartley of the Polaroid commercials costarring James Garner. Now she is arguably more famous than either. Nina has appeared in so many X-rated features that you could watch one a day for an entire year without hitting a sloppy second. Known for her deliciously plump derriere, Nina has starred in such rump-pleasing titles as Anal Annie and the Backdoor Wives (1984). But she's also appeared in mainstream fare, most notably Boogie Nights (1997), as the philandering wife of super-wimp William H. Macy. She managed to show off the least amount of skin of any of the primary cast members, just half a nip and the upper part of her legendary buns. She now defends pornography on such mainstream channels as MTV. Keep up the good fight, girl!
