She started out as a bunny at a Los Angeles Playboy Club, and Lynne Moody was guaranteed screen immortality when she debuted in the blaxploitation classic Scream Blacula Scream (1973). That was still just the start for a woman who’d become one of America’s most respected African American actresses. Fortunately, it took a while before Hollywood appreciated Lynne’s talent. It was left to indie filmmakers to discover her as a ’70s stunner, shown off to particularly winning effect while baring her bod in a swimming pool during the heist caper Las Vegas Lady (1975). The sordid made-for-TV movie Nightmare in Badham County (1976) features Lynne modeling some tight prisoner wear, with the European film version including a body-double insert that makes for a flawless look as local sheriff Chuck Connors rips open her bulging blouse. The classic mini-series Roots (1977) finally made Lynne legit, although this stunning actress still never got the respect she deserved. Instead, Lynne has brought high class to TV soapers such as nighttime drama Knots Landing and daytime favorite General Hospital.
