Did light-skinned soul sister Kasi Lemmons feel she had something to prove? Success driven at an early age, creamy Kasi landed a part directly out of high school in the made-for-TV drama 11th Victim (1979). With only a pause to shake her blonde dreadlocks and twitch her high, taut, globicular tail feathers, sweet (not sour) Lemmons burst from the big screen with a stunning turn in director Spike Lee's African American sorority sendup School Daze (1988). Kasi's acting credentials received a universal stamp of approval with her portrayal of Special Agent Ardelia Mapp in the monster hit Silence of the Lambs (1991), but she'd already proved herself, in Vampire's Kiss (1989), to be a hot mouthful of milky chocolate under the nipple-teasing lips of bloodsucker Nicolas Cage.
