Cat-eyed Clea DuVall came out of the skin gate with a score in Little Witches (1996), one of several sexy, supernatural teen knock-offs of the same year's The Craft. In her straight-to-tape but sufficiently startling version, Clea's delicious dark princess flashes a bit of Beelze-boob and a devilish dose of derriere, much to the delight of her fellow sorceresses and a league of pause-button-prone home viewers. That role more or less set the tone for Clea's subsequent film characters: that of the darkly dressed, quietly subversive outsider, which became second nature for her in striking but sadly skinless turns in The Faculty (1998), Girl (2000), and Wildflower (2000). A startlingly Sapphic but so, so, so sweet turn in the lesbian-themed rah-rah indie But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) found Clea and co-star Natasha Lyonne sharing a deep and lingering soul kiss that undoubtedly had viewers' tongues equally a-wagging. As for any subsequent skinquences, well, let's hope that Clea has fond memories of her Season of the Witch.
